I am surrounded by doers—people who see a need, roll up their sleeves, and dig in. They tear out walls, feed homeless people, write blogs, make videos, start businesses, and volunteer their time, without worry as to what other people think of them. And they don’t listen to the little voice that says, “I can’t.” So often, we wish something could be done, but talk ourselves out of doing anything. “I don’t have the expertise or education,” “I don’t have time,” “I don’t have enough money.” Actually, if you will just decide to do something, all of your needs will be taken care of. Just start and you will become an expert. Invest a small amount of time and you will be so rewarded, you will make more time for it. Do what you can without money and see where it leads. Whether it’s feeding the homeless or cleaning out your basement, starting is the most important step you will ever take. And the reward will be so worth it.

Mom, I’m so glad you and Dad didn’t raise me to think I can’t do something. I actually was given “can’t” advice the other day for the first time and it was so foreign to me. Thanks for being so encouraging, Mom and Dad!
It is a legacy from your grandparents! So many people do have to work hard to remember that they CAN. The best we can do is to surround ourselves with people who encourage and believe in us!
